Thanks for the kind words about the site.
...Eric,

Thanks for the kind words about the site.

I would drop that silliness from your schedule for sure. We will do higher rep sets on the bench as assistance or back off sets on a volume day, or sometimes after a heavy session, but that mix you cited makes very little sense in terms of seeking any sort of adaptation. It would certainly be "hard" if loaded appropriately, but being "hard" and being productive don't always go hand in hand.

Use your bench for developing and demonstrating upper body strength, if something seems silly (particularly if it comes from CrossFit)it probably is.Johnny Painhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16751831807982169118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9083571005315574628.post-80291035137279893932010-02-20T11:45:32.930-05:002010-02-20T11:45:32.930-05:00JP - I dig checking your workouts every day, and a...JP - I dig checking your workouts every day, and also appreciate the pro-science, skeptical quotes you post. (I'm a card-carrying skeptic myself.)

I have a question, if you don't mind. Occasionally (about once a month), I've been incorporating the 1-10-1-20-1-30 WODs that were featured on the main Crossfit site Christmas week. I'm about to go and do the bench press version of this WOD, but can't help but wonder whether it's a stupid rep scheme. I'm in the middle of reading Starting Strength right now, and it doesn't seem like something Rippetoe would recommend. So was that just bad programming by Crossfit? Should I take that workout off my schedule?

Thanks.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15923157785702822995noreply@blogger.com
