Rest Day 100822

JP's Rest Day Tip #5: Get Hungry

The concept of drinking fats (olive oil) in shakes to up calories has been discussed now a few times. This is my preferred method for adding fat (for caloric reasons) to meals for those who are eating for growth. The majority of the meals for the day should consist of protein, and a carbohydrate source. One of the benefits of keeping the meals primarily protein/carb instead of purposely including fats is the turnaround time on hunger. See how long it takes you to get hungry again after a meal of eggs and pancakes with butter and syrup, or chicken fettucine alfredo, vs. eggs and oatmeal, or ground beef and rice. Both of the latter meals obviously contain fat as well, but not what I often refer to as “deliberate fats”. The food content of those meals is brought in from the protein source. This is the way I like to do it. Eat, get hungry again, eat again. If you are not hungry yet, have a shake (either oats and whey, or whey and olive oil), repeat throughout the day. See how easy it is under those circumstances to add in the protein and calories you need to grow.
