Training Day 090806

On 30 second Clock
40yd Hill Sprint x 20

Steve pulls over 400 (405) for the first time in his life at 40 years old. A few months ago Steve had knee surgery. During his recovery he became fond of rack pulls from various heights. After weeks of driving his pin pull numbers up, and working chins, he developed a nasty top end and lockout. He's just recently been able to pull from the floor again. He has a lot more in him for the Dead which we will see in the weeks and months to come. He missed 420 last night by drifting forward ever so slightly before the knee, a result of not having developed as much confidence in his groove off of the floor having done partials for so long. His weakness at this point is definitely the first six inches of pull. It is a battle to the knee. At this point, most anything he gets to the knee he will finish. The road to 500 won't be as short, or as simple, but expect to see him there within a few months. Keep in mind Steve is 40 and has only been lifting weights seriously for less than a year. I am reminded of one of my favorite Chinese Proverbs, "The best time to plant an oak tree is twenty years ago or today". Have you planted your tree yet? Or are you walking around with a handful of acorns in your pocket looking for just the right spot? There's no time like the present to start making some serious progress. If you haven't planted your tree, I'd love to help you. If your tree isn't growing in the field you've planted it in, it might be time to transplant it where the soil is better and it gets more rain. Don't pay someone your hard earned money to piss on it every couple of days and tell you that it's special and will eventually sprout.

"No evil can happen to a good man, either in life or after death."
-Plato

Interesting Fact: 2 out of 3 adults in the United States have hemorrhoids.

Nice job Steve!

Day 3 of 5/3/1 (I am only doing 3 days a week, and have combined DL and Press into one day).

Press
Deadlift
Barbell Row (5x5 on the minute)
Push Press (5x10 on the minute)
Barbell Shrug (5x5 on the minute)

I really liked this workout and it should be even more fun once the weights get heavier. I rested yesterday but still want to do the MS/Lunge workout from Tuesday.
