Rest Day 100829

JP's Rest Day Tip #6: Ground Beef

Ground Beef is a staple food for anyone looking to add serious muscle. It is dense with protein, and provides more much needed calories than chicken or other, leaner protein sources. Ground beef is inexpensive and can be prepared any number of ways. I like to mix ground beef in a 50/50 mix with either rice or pasta, and top with a low calorie sauce like Hunt's plain tomato sauce during aggressive mass gain phases. For protein and veggie meals, ground beef can be made into burger patties or meatloaf, or just browned with some onions, peppers, and mushrooms in it. Something that I have found makes consuming lots of ground beef much easier (as anyone who has eaten a pound or more at a serving can tell you, it can be quite difficult) is to add in beef or chicken broth to the pan once the beef is browned. The liquid makes the beef softer, and it definitely goes down smoother and faster (no homo). Try it out.

Interesting Fact: China has about $1 trillion in personal savings and a savings rate of close to 50%. The US has about $158 billion in personal savings and an average savings rate of only about 2%.
